The researchers compared processed carrots (pureed cooked carrot meals) to chopped, raw carrots in the comparative study. The results showed that about 65.1% (plus or minus 7%) of beta carotene from cooked, puree carrot meals have been absorbed compared to the raw carrot meals, which only absorbed around 41.4% (plus or minus 7%). • One of the easiest methods to launch this method is constantly eating carrots near them. This method introduces them to carrots and allows them to be curious about what you are eating. It also shows them that the “thing” you are eating is NOT poisonous nor is harmful.
• Another method is by showing your Parakeets that carrots are incredibly delicious. Well, not everyone enjoys carrots, but by acting out your enjoyment, your parrot will become enticed to eat some themselves!

Add Some Trickery

This method is universal, and one can do this with any Parakeet. However, when the Parakeet is new, maybe be a little cautious as this method involves playing around with the Parakeet’s trust.

Slice up the carrots into tiny pieces, dice them even. Now, add them to their regular diet, probably along with the grains, and voila! That is how you trick your Parakeet into eating carrots!

Forced Diet

This method is best for when you have a very stubborn Parakeet that is not eating carrots or any vegetable. Better yet, this is best when you have a Parakeet that has been long overdue for a diet. However, we do not recommend this method for Parakeets with average or less than optimal weights, as this can get dangerous.

To execute this method, force them to eat carrots by introducing carrots and only carrots to their menu. Yes, this may be harsh at first, but for those with Parakeets seriously needing a diet, this may be good for them in the long run.

Entice With Variety

This approach is a social and intellectual issue rather than a preference one. What I mean by that is that this approach works best when you have a Parakeet that’s not optimally socialized. When the Parakeets are ignorant of various food, they may become highly cautious around new diets.

To compensate for this, you can start feeding your Parakeet new food. For example, instead of your pet Parakeet’s average bird food and grains serving, introduce some bread or even pasta once in a while. This method allows them to be acquainted with many food groups and be less cautious around new diets.

Make It Cute

This method is universally applicable to most Parakeets. Slice your carrots into manageable pieces and teach your Parakeet to play with them. They will eventually learn to eat it through with enough training or patience.
